A map, a menu with set recipes and numerous small stores with the top-quality local produce of the World’s Oldest Republic.

That is all you need to take part in the tastiest and most challenging orienteering competition ever.

After the initial briefing, during which the teams are formed, and after distributing the shopping list, off you go in search of ingredients in the small stores indicated on the map: butcher, greengrocer, delicatessen, coop.

After obtaining all the necessary ingredients, the next step is to reach the well-stocked kitchen of the Kursaal convention centre and prepare the recipes to create the menus provided at the start of the competition, with the help of professional cooks.

Once the dishes have been prepared, the panel of judges formed at the start of the competition (usually belonging to a specific corporate area) will appoint the winner.

COOKING LESSON

Creation of proposals subject to the availability of the Chef

These cooking lessons will uncover the secrets of the most sophisticated recipes made from local produce. A one-of-a-kind experience to learn to prepare absolutely original dishes.

Cooking lessons last about 2-3 hours and at the end of the lesson, you can enjoy the prepared dishes together with the chef.

The cooking lesson can take on two different forms: demo, in which the chef prepares the dish, or hands-on, where you prepare the dish under the chef’s supervision.

WINE TASTING

In its recently-renovated headquarters, the Consorzio Vini Tipici di San Marino organizes tastings of traditional wines made strictly from local grapes.

Exclusive tastings can be organized in the dedicated room with view of the barriques.

FINGERS IN THE PIE

Piada “Azimo santo e povero dei mesti agricoltori, il pane del passaggio tu sei, che s’accompagna all’erbe agresti” to put it in the words of Pascoli, is the most traditional and widely-consumed unleavened bread of San Marino and Romagna.

A theoretical/hands-on lesson will teach you to make piadina and visit a local production facility.

This can be set up either inside an old country house, now the Museum of Farming Civilization or in a local farm.

CHIC PIC-NIC

A real “déjeuner sur l’herbe” to have lunch away from the traffic and noise of town.

The flavours of wholesome products are enhanced by the bucolic atmosphere of a real “chic pic nic” prepared by Michelin star chef, Luigi Sartini.

PODERE LESIGNANO – VISIT AND TASTING

A visit to a farm in the San Marino countryside where a modern farmer will introduce guests to the art of grape-growing and the history of the lands of San Marino.

The visit to the farm also includes tasting wine and food to bring out all the reciprocal flavours.
